Playwright David Mamet compared the Democrat Party to “pedophiles” on Monday while arguing they are suffering from mental health problems.
Mamet said on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime” that Democrats are denying reality in the same way that family members would deny that their loved one is a pedophile. Among those who have self-reported excellent mental health, conservatives currently outnumbers liberals 51% to 20%, according to a Silver poll from the 2021 Congressional Election Study.
“Everything in the Democrats’ playbook is denial, which takes all of a person’s mental energy. It’s no different than a dysfunctional family. If [there is a family where] there is a pedophile, the problem is not that there is a pedophile, but the problem for everyone in the family is they have to deny that that is a pedophile. Because if they face it, the family as they know it is going to fall apart and they don’t know what comes next.”
WATCH:
The Democrats have struggled with an identity crisis and to reach voters, particularly males, who supported President Donald Trump in large droves. The party lost the popular vote for the first time in 20 years in the 2024 election and the Hispanic male vote for the first time ever.
Trump became the first Republican nominee to win the Latino male vote by garnering 55% of support among that voter block, according to an NBC News exit poll.
The approval ratings for Democrats have reached abysmal lows, including one NBC News poll from March which found that just 27% of voters have a positive view of the party, which is the party’s lowest rating since 1990. A CNN poll found in the same month that Democrats’ favorability rating stood at 29%, which is the lowest recorded rating since 1992.
