Former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre reportedly wanted to be a co-host on “The View,” but she did not get the job, according to Politico.
Jean-Pierre has been reportedly trying to decide her future plans after stepping down from the podium, and announced on Wednesday that she is exiting the Democratic Party. Former officials who worked in former President Joe Biden’s administration told Politico that while Jean-Pierre had been hoping to be a co-host on “The View,” no such opportunity came her way.
While trying to find a new gig, Jean-Pierre reportedly traveled to New York to appear on “The View” and was the subject of other lengthy profiles with the hopes of getting a job, according to Politico. She is currently working on releasing her new book, “Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside Party Lines,” which is set to be released in October.
In the book, Jean-Pierre claimed that she is leaving the Democrat Party over its “betrayal” of Biden as they called on him to drop out of the race in the summer ahead of the 2024 election. She said in a video on Wednesday that Americans need to be “thinking outside of our boxes” and stop being “so partisan.”
“And here’s the truth, and here’s how I will lay it out to you. I think we need to stop thinking in boxes and think outside of our boxes, and not be so partisan. And the way that I see moving forward in this space that we’re in right now is if you are willing to stand side by side with me, regardless of your political — how you identify politically, and as long as you respect the community that I belong to and vulnerable communities that I respect, I will be there with you. I will be, I will move forward with you,” Jean-Pierre said.
Jean-Pierre appeared on “The View” several times throughout her tenure, where she defended Biden’s cognitive abilities, made false claims about Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham’s abortion bill in 2022 and grew emotional after Biden had dropped out of the 2024 race.
During her time as press secretary, Jean-Pierre defended Biden’s fitness to run for reelection, claiming that he is “sharp” and in great health. She discredited videos that indicted that Biden’s health was declining by branding them as “cheap fakes.”
The former press secretary further assured reporters that Biden would not pardon his son, Hunter, from his felony gun conviction and tax charges. Biden pardoned Hunter of all actions taken between Jan. 1, 2014 and Dec. 1, 2024.
Media experts told the Daily Caller in January that Jean-Pierre would likely be hired as an on-air contributor despite her being “unemployable.”
Brian Teta, the executive producer of “The View,” and Jean-Pierre did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
