A Republican Senator is calling out former FBI Director James Comey over a social media post that appeared to call for the murder of President Donald Trump.
In a post on X, U.S. Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) expressed his disbelief over Comey’s post and noted the reaction that would have happened if Trump had suggested former President Joe Biden should be murdered.
“What if Trump had posted “8646” one year ago today?” Lee asked. “They’d have tried—once again—to throw him in prison. Can anyone deny that?”
There were two failed assassination attempts on Trumps life last year, one narrowly missing Trumps head and hitting his ear instead during a rally in Bulter, Pennsylvania.
Lee then posted the now deleted post from Comey, which shows seashells being shaped into a “86 47.”
“Former FBI Director Jim Comey posted a cryptic message that—as far as I can tell—can be read only to mean “kill Trump.” I’m speechless. Literally speechless,” Lee said.
